Natural England (tel 0845 600 3078, web www.naturalengland.org.uk), Northminster House, Peterborough, PE1 1UA.

From Martin Hockey, a reader:

Page 40 & 147 – Transport
Apart from the buses the book mentions, there is a very useful bus at Lewknor. The Oxford Tube bus stops near the M40 junction with the B4009, and runs from there to Oxford, and to Hillingdon and London. It runs every 12 to 15 minutes most of the day. Details on this website: www.oxfordtube.com

Page 148 – Map 34
The map does not show access to/from the M40 at Junction 6 - this is very useful for people starting or finishing at Lewknor. There is also a path from the junction to the Ridgeway just north of the M40 that it would be useful for those taking the Oxford Tube bus.

Page 100 – Accommodation
The small town of Chiseldon, about 3 miles from the Ridgeway, has a choice of B&Bs and a reader recommends Norton House (tel 01793 741210, web www.nortonhouse.uk.com), at 46 Draycott Road.

New accommodation
The YHA Clyffe Pypard (tel 01793 731386, web www.yha.org.uk), is next to The Goddard Arms in the village of Clyffe Pypard and both places are run by the same couple. It’s about 4.5 miles from the Ridgeway, via Broad Hinton, using the White Horse Trail – see Map 3.
